The Garlic baskets also known as Gourds baskets, are woven and produced by women who are widowees, underprivileged from Bulawayo in Matebeleland district of Zimbabwe, so that they can manage to feed themselves, support their families and also send their children and grand-children to school. The Garlic baskets are woven using natural fibre such as Ilala and Indaza, which is found around the bushes in Matebeleland region.The Garlic Gourds baskets baskets are mainly used for decorative purposes.
